Thanks, Owen, I have been listening to a couple of dozen new tunes I need to learn to play in the group. I worked on this one using sheet music in chunks, mostly to get the slurs down. I was struggling until I hit the right pattern on the first few triplets, then it fell together. I gotta get rid of that poker face, I most definitely have a good tell. I still use the sheet music as I have a bad habit of rewriting tunes in my head and getting stuck playing them my own way.

Thank you. This is one of the many new tunes I’m trying to learn so I can play with my local Spelmanslag. Composer Roger Tallroth is a Swede and I have heard him the the band Väsen a couple of times. He composed this song to the christening of his niece Josefine (“dopvals” means “christening waltz”).

Thanks, I should correct my thread heading. “La Danse de Mardi Gras”
Song by The Balfa Brothers. And my apologies for digressing from the original score.

I found this link and hope it helps. If you can offer any advice as always I greatly appreciate your wisdom.

      How do I play an E7 chord? and should the E be an E minor? is there an E major? The song I’m working on has A, D, A, E, A, E, A. Then E7 A, E, A, D…. I got them all but the E & E7 thanks

The weight and reach of this 15″ student viola is my favorite. My FM masters viola is 15.5 and almost too much for me now but I love the deep rich sounds. The violin seems too small but definitely easier to hold on to. I am working with the violin a lot more recently, but my go to is the masters. Thanks for the feedback.

Finally have a submission. Aside from a couple missed notes. Thanks

Here is another rendition with my 15″ student viola. Same recording device (phone) but now outdoors in my favorite concert hall.

thanks, same room, same setup with camera (phone). The first clip is my 15.5 viola. The second video is with the 4/4 violin. I see where my bowing is off. I seem to adjust fingering for the smaller instrument, but not my bowing. Of course, my sound is good when I’m not wincing in pain (If you watch “Poker Face” on my YouTube channel, you will see what I mean). Is there anything I should be cautious about as I’m working on two different instruments? (Will add a third 15″ viola when I’m at the cabin in the mountain)

Part two with violin. What am I doing that makes it sound nasally?
