I simply go over the tunes I know and try to iron out any bumps, focusing on one or two tunes at a time. As for myself, I practice scales for tunes I’m working on.
I still practice the pentatonic a lot, adding different types of variation.

Thanks for this workshop Jason, as with all your workshops, it was really well paced with clear instructions. I think the jam tracks are a real winner! I’m looking forward to coming along for the ride as you develop your ideas on teaching improvisation.

If you want to get more confident, then practice “Transition Loops” (2-4 bars total):
