Thanks for this workshop Jason, as with all your workshops, it was really well paced with clear instructions. I think the jam tracks are a real winner! I’m looking forward to coming along for the ride as you develop your ideas on teaching improvisation.
Would you consider a lesson on Gershwin’s Summertime at some stage? -

Great tune Steve. I think digressing from the score is good for us, helps us find what works so we can become fiddlers. Thanks for sharing your playing, you have a nice tone.

I really enjoyed listening to your playing Owen. Nice warm tones, and the slides and blended double stops really added to the soulful feel of this tune. Thanks for sharing.:)

Finally completed the recent challenge by making this video. Having a problem with the camera setting so it’s a bit dark, but more importantly, the audio is ok. I managed to learn this tune completely by ear, but found the string crossings hard, which then affected the intonation, particularly on the low notes.

Thanks for sharing your videos Steve. We all benefit from reading Jocelyns feedback. I really like the sound of your Viola and it shows how much you developed your playing between the two videos too. Great work! ๐

Thanks for your feedback Jocelyn. Yes, this is a lovely group to play with and we’ve also developed friendships through our love of music. I write some of the harmonies for our music collection. Good to hear that you sing for elders in your community and I hope you can pull a few musicians together to play with soon. I think music is a great way…[Read more]

This is a community group I run called Filigree.
In the week leading up to Xmas we were asked to play for some local village residents who mostly live alone and are provided morning tea, companionship and sometimes a guest speaker once a week at ‘The Hub.’

Lovely playing Owen, you’ve really got control of those ornaments, and the slides suit the tune so well.
Looks cold in your part of the world, no better way to keep warm than to play music………except maybe dance at the same time?😁 -

Really nice playing Owen! It’s exciting to see how regular posting Fiddleheds like yourself and Joanne have developed their playing and confidence. You inspire the rest of us. Love the slides and jig rhythm of this tune, thanks for posting

Debbie, your videos are inspiring, and show how attention to details like a straight bow and really nailing the timing make for a very satisfying result.Your enjoyment of playing shows and you make double stops look easy, but I know it takes a lot of practice, I’m still struggling with them.

Great playing Deb, I love this happy tune, it’s a new one to me, so I hope Jason does make a lesson on it. I’m guessing you recorded yourself playing the dulcimer backing, fantastic, thanks for sharing your video.😊
