Mike, it’s 29 inches. Is that longer than standard?

Excellent, do you bend your wrist to play vibrato. I shall be trying that very shortly. Oh, and your tone sounds really good.

Messing around with this song originally by The Doors and covered by Echo & The Bunnymen in the 80’s film The Lost Boys, I thought it makes a fun Halloween tune!

Problem is I’m not sure that I want to play form sheet music Kate. It seems like a chore that will just take away from my fun of messing around with the fiddle really. I keep having a little go at it and reading it is ok, but turning what I see on a page into a position of a finger on a string … that’s not something I think I’m going to get. If…[Read more]

Really good job Leanne – your fingering is very fluent, or fluid … one of those, or perhaps both.

That’s a neat variation of “Bile em’ Cabbage”. I’ll have to give it a go.

That’s very organised and a good cross over between tune names and music. I’m even more impressed that you can play from sheet music, I think that’s a hurdler I’ll never overcome if I’m honest.

This is wonderful, Kate! Really nicely done! Thanks for sharing! I really enjoyed your harmonies and improv on the tune! Was that you singing?

    Thanks Kate.

Fiddler’s Green is not on the Fiddlehed site, but it would be a great teaching tune either late beginner or early intermediate.
    – Key of G major
    – Fairly simple chord progression using G, C, D chords and one E minor
. E minor chord is (E-G-B). C chord is (C-E-G), so I used E-G double stop for both (G0-D1). Not sure if…[Read more]
