Misha from Oregon: I hear even in basic tunes you sometimes slide a note or two. How do you do that? Very beginner question sorry!

Thanks to all who attended this office hours session and asked questions 🙏

Further learning and practice

  • First off, I recommend that beginners do not slide. You want to train your fingers to precisely land on the right spot. Otherwise, sliding will become a crutch.
  • Another pitfall of sliding to early is that you might not learn to play in tune.
  • Slides
  • Slides can be subtle or obvious
  • Simple exercise: DL1-1-1-1 | {slide}D1-1-1-1
  • Alternate between basic and variation, or between sliding and not sliding.
