Three Warmup Steps For Fiddling On A Tune

Like a sprinter placing their feet in the blocks and their hands on the ground, you can do a few things to prepare for playing a tune. On your mark, get set, go…

  1. Check your posture, breathe and relax the body. Bring awareness to what you’re doing now. πŸ‘β
  2. Visualize how the tune goes. Sing or hum the first little bit. πŸ—£β
  3. Play the first note. Get a good sound with the bow. Make sure it’s in tune. Do the same for the first few notes. 🎢

    Then just dive in.

  1. Thanks again for a great video! I would like to know where the print/painting of the boy playing fiddle that is on your wall comes from.
It looks like an illustration from a child’s book, I love it!

  2. I like your way better than mine. I always forget about my posture and I usually start by looking at sheet music. I’m making a post-it of your 1-3 tips and placing it on my music stand until I remember each time. Thanks!
