That sounds so great, Debbie. Intonation, double stops, and the lilting feel of your swinging 8th notes. Great job!

Just learned it this morning. I have been practicing my sight reading (on mandolin so that my brain isn’t worrying about bowing technique). My improvement in sight reading is allowing me to learn melodies much more quickly.

Sorry about the blurry video, this was filmed in darkening conditions!
For the last 3 months I have been playing with a band in southern Spain & this Polka played at about 180bpm has been our opening tune! At the end of the season we are all heading home to our various countries & I was feeling a bit melancholy playing this alone so slowed it…[Read more] -

I’m totally new here and just beginning to explore all of the features and whatnot. I was checking out drone central and stumbled on Swallow Tail Raga and I know I’ve come to the right place. I am blown away.

Kelly, Gosh it sounds really great to me. What I do notice is your left hand seems tense and your wrist looks like it is a tad kinked. Now that could be the angle of the camera, but I am thinking your elbow is the issue. Try this with your elbow a tad more under the violin and not as close to your body. Let your arm hang loosely with your…[Read more]

My two strongest tunes are Kerfunken Jig and Swallowtail Jig. I’m adding slurs to get some speed and rhythm. Also working on Cooley’s Reel and Kerry Polka, but they still require a lot of thinking, if y’know what I mean…

Any advice on how to make the 2nd quarter of the B part sound more fluid? This song is a core tune for Module 1.8 and Jason’s tutorial video shows how good it can sound. At first I tried slurring every two notes for this part but it still didn’t sound right. Any advice?
