Practice strategy: Looping

Looping is continuously playing a small piece of music. When you pdo this, you move from a state of thinking to a state of flow and play. Musicians at any level can benefit from this practice strategy.

When you ever you encounter something that’s difficult, slowly work on it. At first, do this without looping. When your fingers, hands and ears start to get it, then loop on it at a comfortable tempo. Do it longer than you think you should.

If you get that, then make a bigger loop which contains that. Say you are looping the first bar of a tune. Once you get that, then loop the second bar, and then the first two bars. You can continue this way throughout a tune.
