This song is Benton’s Dream, either written by or attributed to an old fiddler named Benton Flippen, of Mt. Airy, NC.

This is a song I learned recently, an old time standard called Tipping Back the Corn. It was written by Jordan Wankoff of Chicago, Il. I have also posted this on the Fall Practice Challenge page as well.

How many here are interested in old time?
-
I have to admit that I don’t really know the difference! I just googled so now I have a dictionary definition, but I sure couldn’t listen to a tune and know which one it is. Would you mind sharing a couple good Old Time tunes that you like?

Me : )
I enjoy listening to bluegrass, but enjoy playing old-time.
-
I prefer Old-Time, but have to learn bluegrass so I can participate in local jams. Locally, I have not found much in the Old-time style. I am in the Knoxville, TN area. If anyone else is in this are and interested in getting together to play, let me know.

I found…[Read more]
