I would love to see the slur patterns people use for this song. I know it’s personal preference but as a beginner it really helps me to see it. I am a note reader by the way. I tried some slur patterns but I think it could be improved. I also like to have bowing marked as it helps me learn the tune too.

Hey Steve, great inquiry. Have you figured anything more out in the last week with this? I’d be interested to see you show a specific example of this.
I feel as though we can add double stops to anything we want, with any adjacent string, permitting it makes sense for us in terms of notes sounding good together, and that the technical aspect of…[Read more] -

Curious if I want to (or should I?) Add double stops to notes I play on the G string can I use the open A (or open G on Vla) or do I need to add fingering to that higher string? Thanks

Hey folks in this group. We have a nice number of folks joined. What are people up to on the fiddle currently? Anything you want to get people’s feedback on, whether something your struggling with, learning, figuring out, new to, etc?
Anyone interested in forming a group that connects via zoom or similar platform? -

Hello folks,
Two days ago I joined this group. I kind of expected a “Hello and Welcome”. I know I didn’t get a greeting when I joined the beginner group and I admit I was a bit puzzled. What sort of culture is this I wondered. It used to be, during better times I guess, that when you sort of hung around a group for a bit somebody, generally…[Read more]-

Hey, Advanced Beginners! I just wanted to check in with everyone. For unknown reasons, I hit a slump in my fiddle practice in the last week. It hasn’t always felt fun, and I sounded worse to my own ear, and missed too many days too! Having said that, I’ll miss the next 3 weeks of our Monday meetings, because my husband and I leave on trip to…[Read more]

Think I will go back to the FH Irish Journey and practice some of the rolls, Grace notes, cuts etc. and use them in scale practice, just for fun.
