Hi
I’m new here, just reached 1.9 and I’m in northern New Brunswick, Canada.
Seems there are quite a few members but not much happening. Can anyone update me on Zoom Tuesday? Does it/Did it ever take place? -

I never did get back to the Old Grey Cat or Soldier’s Joy. These are on my agenda for today.

I think it sounds very good. Thank you for sharing.
I’ve not shared a tune yet but I’m working on it, trying to decide which tune. I have a hard time with jigs and reels but Soldier’s Joy is becoming more and more comfortable. That might be the one when I’m able to do it from memory.
I’m about halfway through level 1.9. However I might find…[Read more]

Now I’m working on level 1.9. Along the way I’ve learned some things I didn’t know – quite a few actually. After practicing tunes I wasn’t too sure about at first I discovered some were growing on me, especially Soldier’s Joy. I seem to keep returning to that one every day, not sure why. Today I think I’ll get back to the Old Grey Cat. Those two…[Read more]

My bowing is relatively straight but it keeps sliding towards the bridge. Also, I can’t seem to keep a light touch with the fingering of my right hand.

Well I just completed Level 1.6 and I am also working on 1.7 and 1.8. I didn’t plan it that way but I guess music is a bit like life in general- a step or so forward, a step or so back – then drag yourself up try to keep going.
Hmmm is that why Jason talks about the journey in some lesson I’ve been through? Maybe so. It really does seem to be…[Read more]

Doing a review of first level tunes I discover that Little Liza Jane was way way too fast. Even now that I’ve been here several months I find the last part of the play-along track too fast. Anybody else?

Thanks for sharing Margaret. Yes it’s quite fast. I tried to thumb strum it with fiddle in guitar position and that helped at bit. Way to try it tho, and yes, other…

Hello folks,
Two days ago I joined this group. I kind of expected a “Hello and Welcome”. I know I didn’t get a greeting when I joined the beginner group and I admit I was a bit puzzled. What sort of culture is this I wondered. It used to be, during better times I guess, that when you sort of hung around a group for a bit somebody, generally…[Read more]-
Hey Margaret,
This is a lovely sharing. I fully agree this is what would be ideal! As it stands, these groups are fully functioning by those who utilize it. It would be…

is it OK if I talk about Me? Me is, after all the only subject about which I have much knowledge. Yes, I love music, especially instrumental classical string music. I confess I don’t know much about music, cannot identify even the most well-known of classical pieces much less their creators. I’d guess that comes from spending decades in a…[Read more]

Thank for this article. I especially appreciate the introduction to Evelyn Glennie. I wonder about her several references to deafness. I wonder whether this conference had something to do with people who are deaf.

Hi
I don’t know why you are asking me about this. Did you hit the wrong reply button? in any case, what I do know is that my Best Buddy installed a set of geared tuners on a cheap violin about ten years ago. He purchased the product from George Hienyl ( or Heinyl – I’m not sure of the correct spelling). Apparently there were several types of…[Read more] - Load More
