Dealing with intonation challenges on the fiddle
Before this hotseat session, FiddleHed Bob wrote me to say, “I struggle a bit with Intonation. I can play along, up to speed with around 15 recordings I have and can automatically get “Squared away” on intonation. But when I play by myself, intonation is kind of hit or miss. Some days, I do pretty well, other days not so well. I have played with the drones and that works pretty well. I do prefer the recordings (made by old time players that are really up to speed) to dial in intonation, and more importantly, timing.
