Beginner Group 5 years, 3 months agoHi – just a couple of months in to learning the fiddle! Making slooooooow progress – but Jason says that’s the way, so I’m keeping on going! Sort of got the basics but challenged with getting the right notes in D major and my bow has a mind of its own! Any tips from other beginners vrey welcome.

So I’ve been at this for a month or so now and I feel confident enough to play in front of someone else- lazy John or Oh Susannah etc… However, I freeze up and my mind goes a bit blank. I have the same problem. I asked Jason and he posted some really good tips on how to deal with it. Search How to Overcome Stage fright . It’s an issue I still deal with but there’s hope 🙂 I am getting better.

Hopefully this won’t break the spell, @kvmceff but actually Neil Gow’s second ‘wife’ was his violin, which he accidentally damaged beyond repair. Some say he sat on it, but I don’t know if that’s true.
