Nicely played Marg! That sounds like a complicated tune with those string crossings too!

Here’s my early work through this tune for a band session. Thank you Jason for helping me work it out in G!

Nicely played Owen! This is such a lovely tune. I love Jason’s version of this tune too along with the jig bodhran on the Beat Central page.

I use a free version of Garageband. I don’t think I use it to it’s full potential as it seems very complicated. I found some great tutorials on YouTube which just show…

So nice to hear you playing this. What a fresh approach, inspiring way to move with tunes. I like how intuitively you were playing and the joy you experienced in the journey. 🙂 Way to put your take on this out there, Joanne, thanks~

I usually use a Mac with a Focusrite Scarlett 212 with a mic, instrument & headphone port to play and record but to get this recording I played out Debbie’s track on the Mac then recorded me playing along on my pad! Not the most hi-fi audio but it works fine on a phone or pad I hope!

I’ve been playing this along to the dulcimer recording by Debbie & finally got a video with hopefully not too many mistakes! I love this site for the opportunity that here I am in the UK able to play with someone thousands of miles away! Thank you Jason & team!

Thanks Jocelyn! I think some parts of the tune sound & flow more smoothly when slurred but I don’t want to do too much so that it sounds lazy or I start to “lose” notes.
The version on YouTube by the Cunninghams which I shared above, certainly has a degree of slurring.

Here’s an update 7 days on! Hopefully improving! I’m just trying to work out where I should slur and where to separate to get the best sound

A friend of mine who plays the Irish tin whistle sent me some sheet music to learn this so we can play together when we meet in Spain this winter. I recorded this video for him my first time right through with the E drone to help me! It’s a Scottish tune & goes nicely with Inisheer (Irish) and Scarborough Fair (English) to make a proper UK…[Read more]
