Thanks for the nourishing gathering folks!
David – @david123429
Agnes – @agnesita
Tracey – @plain-old-cat
Cal – @cal_laz
Caren – @fidil
Steve – @riptonSome takeaways I noted from our session:
-Recording ourself – great perspective to see where we want to focus on, helpful to look back at recordings later on too when we can be less critical, good to record ourselves as ongoing practise, share a recording ๐
-sharing our playing in various ways with community
-warming up to tune Wabash Cannonball, G major with drone
-chords, one note at a time, longer bows with each note and then both together, noticing bow pressure & angle on strings, integrating double stops into tune associated with chord
-tune call and response, rounds-noticing how our mind works as we play, openness to stopping and going back over something, also drive to carry on playing, recognizing where we are at in a song compared to another similar section
-location of bow contacting string – finding middle range between bridge and fingerboard where sound is clearest, experimenting going closer to either edge, good practise to look at often for brief period with simple playing
-bow arm wrist movement, relation to elbow movement, wave/ripple effect from elbow into wrist, fingers and shoulder, arm height affecting wrist relaxation, bending thumb and curling pinky to support relaxation through hand and beyond, focus in on 1 body part and play simply supporting further relaxation and comfortable movement
-Interval practises mentioned helpful for flow with bow arm
