Advanced Beginner Group 2 years ago Hi
I recently joined Fiddlehed and am currently on the lesson on Bile em cabbage down. but i was already working on 2 other songs before I joined, Should i just focus on the lesson material? or is it ok to be working on several tunes at same time?
I find when I can focus in on mastering 1 song, it helps, and supplement lighter learning/reviewing on other things amongst it. And when I need a break from a song. I bring my main focus onto something else, and intend to come back to the previous main focus again soon.
I find I can work on multiple songs, often not in the same practice session though. I usually pick one thing to go deeper on within a practise. And I try to go as deep and simplified as I can. Get to know the ‘key’ really well, get to know 1 note real well, then 2 notes, a phrase, etc. And notice within that focus, what skills I could focus on individually, and take note for future practises.
If I can get one small thing to feel good, function well, and sound the way I want it to, that’ll support all my further endeavours.
Be great to hear what works for more folks as well.
