Hi I’m Shelley and have been trying to play fiddle for two weeks. I mainly play baroque and renaissance recorder in a chamber group and after going to a couple Irish sessions got obsessed with playing fiddle. I am using a 3/4 violin, and this size was a lot easier for me to manage after starting with a friend’s old and difficult to tune full size. I am thrilled with the lessons in Fiddlehed, they are so well constructed. I have a question – I am having trouble keeping my wrist straight, when I’m not paying attention it starts to sink into the violin. any suggestions for curing this potentially bad habit?
Is anyone else using a smaller size violin? I am short and have small hands.
