I love this little tune and all the different little variations that I’m trying out. However, timing timing timing! Really need to work on getting that solid and getting the lilts in the right place too. Still, I feel like I’m slowly slowly getting a little better. My husband is playing a gig at our local pub before the England match later. Jeannette started the topic The Cradle Song in the forum Student Videos I love this tune by James Scott Skinner. As well as making it smoother and more flowing, I really want to start to work on making it sound more Scottish with grace notes. I feel like, after 10 months of learning, my fingers are starting to occasionally find the right spot on the fretboard - or at least my ear is getting better at being able to tell when they're not on the right spot!

I started learning this tune yesterday and it is almost in my head but not quite yet in my fingers! Certainly not at the 170bpm it’s meant to be at. I am playing it here at about 110bpm but I actually forgot to listen to my metronome when I recorded this so the timing is somewhat off! I love it though – it’s a proper happy,…[Read more]

As a mere 6-monther, I would say that your family don’t have a clue! I think you have great tone, flow & musicality. Recording yourself is a great way to monitor your progress and hear what others are hearing. I guess practise, practise practise is our new mantra! I look forward to hearing more.

Jeannette posted an update Good morning all, I’m in an established practice group with 2 ladies from across the pond, which I love! However, the time difference means that we can’t meet until after around 2-3pm UK time. Late afternoon & evening meets are fine but I wonder if there is anyone who is in the UK (or in a time zone close to it) who would be interested in day-time virtual meets. I’ve been playing for 6 months so still very much a beginner. Any tips on how to successfully upload a profile pic also gratefully received! When I try, I just get the outer corner of the picture & can’t figure how to move it around. Thanks in advance J
