Hello from the land of ice and snow (Lake Tahoe). Here’s a tune called Zollie’s Retreat. I heard it on a new fiddle album by country singer Tyler Childers. As I started to learn it I used a recording by Dirk Powell. But when all is said and done, it’s just music 🎶
The fiddle on this tune is tuned to DDAD. The G tuned down to D is super low and tends to go sharp. Technically speaking, the tune is a waltz. But on all the different versions I listened to, the timing is very loose (which makes it difficult to learn but fun to play.)
