G string tone

I can use throw away bow to get a nice ringing note from the open G and first finger A, but beyond that (second third and fourth finger B C D) the notes sound flat and dead. I’ve been trying throw away bow on them and I just can’t get a good sound. I don’t think it’s my fingering because the notes ring out just fine on the other strings. So any advice on getting a good sound from those G string notes would be appreciated. Thanks!

I had dead areas on my G string. I changed the string to a new string from the same manufacturer (heliocore) and the problem continued. I changed to an Obligato G string and the dead spot disappeared.
