Our family holiday gathering is on Christmas Eve when we do our gift exchange. My mother-in-law gave me a book by Simon Fischer titled The Violin Lesson. Wowza – what an amazing book. Brimming with information on how to detect and fix problems in technique. Aimed at classical violinists, but it all seems highly relevant for fiddlers. She also gave me a book by Judy Minot titled Best Practice – Inspiration and Ideas for Traditional Musicians. Hundreds of short chapters, each with a concept or idea to incorporate into your practice, and specifically aimed at adult, non-professional musicians who are focused on traditional music styles.
