Get ready for the barn dance
1.2 under Core Tunes

Here is a lesson on Angeline The Baker. This is made for beginners. You only need the first and second fingers!

Video downloads are now available to paid subscribers!

Warm-up with D and A major scales. The tune is in A but practicing the D major scale is better preparation in this case.

This version uses the hoedown rhythm throughout the tune (another thing that makes it easier for beginners).

Warm up with variations on the D major scale.

Practice the scale and phrases from the tune (once you’ve learned it) with a D drone:

Learning chunks

I’ve made some “Learning Chunks” to help you learn more easily. These focused exercises contain sheet music, tabs and mp3 loops to guide you on your fiddle journey.

A part, first quarter

Key interval: D2-A0

Key interval: D1-A0

Simply playing this is a good ‘small win’. Make sure you can loop it continuously before moving on to the next quarter. Take this approach with everything you learn.

A part, second quarter

D1-2-2-A0-D1-1-2-2-2 2-2-2

The rest of the learning chunks are available to paid subscribers, along with full play-along tracks with fiddle at high and low volume (so you hear yourself better), full tabs, call-and-response track and full sheet music. Thanks for your support  🙏

If this lesson was helpful, then add it to your Master Practice List so that you’ll remember to practice it tomorrow:
